SIR – The moron who committed such cruelty to his dog (T&A, January 14) reckons he’d only owned it for three days.
He refuses to turn up to court in a prison bus. He should have been made to do so, and given no chance to object.
He is already a serving prisoner for offences unknown. In his absence he is fined £500 and a £15 surcharge.
He gets a way out by only serving one additional day in prison in lieu of paying the £500 plus £15 fine, thus wiping out the fine altogether. He should be banned for life from keeping any sort of animal.
He will be laughing his socks off now.
Where is the justice in this case? Starve him in prison until he loses two stone.
Mrs C Taylor, Leeds Road, Eccleshill
