SIR – I am writing to thank Councillor John Godward, who was Lord Mayor last year.

We were invited to be a part of his Lord Mayor’s Appeal Fund, and have just received a cheque for £33,414 to be used for The People’s City Centre to be established in Bradford Thanks must also go to his committee chairman M G Green, committee members and volunteers, who gave their time and energies to establish this fund, and also people who gave money in this difficult economic period.

We all now need to work hard to find premises or a site to move this project forward in a positive manner.

We have the enthusiasm and the older people. What we do need is someone to show the faith the Millionaires had when they started this project on national television and gave us £50,000.

I invite Asset Management to climb on board and find something for Bradford and district similar to what has now been opened in Keighley at Central Hall.
