SIR – Being regular walkers on the Greenway overlooking Victoria Park in Oakenshaw, my wife and I recently decided to place and maintain a small number of wild bird seed feeders in and among the trees and bushes beside the path.
These have been filled with seed by us every day for a few weeks and have been used by various wild birds during the recent bad weather.
To my dismay, someone has decided to remove one of them, thus depriving the regular users of some easy-to-find food. I am saddened by this theft since birds become used to returning to a particular place to feed.
It is possible the thief intends to use it in their own garden. However, I very much doubt it since if they needed to steal something that costs less then £2, I cannot see that they will be bothered to buy seed to keep it filled, though it can be bought very cheaply from the pet store in the indoor market in Cleckheaton.
I do hope the person who stole that feeder reads this and makes good use of it.
