SIR – Your correspondent Jack MacPherson (T&A, January 10) asks how much longer businesses can hang on until Westfield becomes a reality, implying that it will eventually happen.

My long-standing opinion is that, like the parrot in the Monty Python sketch, Westfield is dead, deceased, expired, passed-on and no more.

Come to think of it the similarity is even greater, for both Westfield and the dead parrot are denials of obviously blinding reality.
