SIR – I was amazed (but shouldn’t have been) to read David Ward’s attempt to deny any responsibility for decisions taken by the Con-Dem Government.
Might I remind Mr Ward that he told the electorate of Bradford East that he was against any VAT increase, but then voted for it.
This decision, of which he is a part, is likely to increase an average family’s expenditure by around £400 per annum.
Then this caring MP votes for the increase in tuition fees, but tries to substantiate this decision by saying it is fair and right.
These two acts alone are proof to me that the Lib-Dems are no longer independent, but an integral part of the Conservative party.
Finally, David Ward and all other MPs who voted for the increase in tuition fees, having themselves received a free university education, will be quite happy to put their hands in their pockets and pay back £9,000 per year or £27,000 for a three-year course.
If the above happens, I’m sure pigs will fly, Bradford City will win the FA Cup and Westfield will build some shops in Bradford.
