SIR – We recently became aware of the home library service. This involves a member of the library staff visiting elderly or housebound people every three weeks on the same day and bringing a case of books.
These can be large-print or talking books, cassettes or CDs. You make known your reading choice and they do their best to oblige.
Due to the weather conditions, we missed an earlier visit in December so were very pleased when a lady arrived just before Christmas, having left her car at the bottom of the road and walked up carrying two cases.
This is a very useful service and we recommend it to your readers. The number to call is (01274) 433669 for further information.
We certainly hope the service will be continued in spite of the cuts.
