SIR – Early morning on December 21, I set off on a longer quest than usual for my T&A.
The reason? I wanted to witness a phenomenon of truly astronomical proportions – a total lunar eclipse was taking place on the winter solstice (shortest day).
Any “bed huggers” who missed this event missed a terrific spectacle. The sky was crystal clear, and perfect for observing.
Well worth waiting 800 years for.
