SIR – Perhaps some of your more enlightened ‘green’ contributors would like to tell us exactly how many megawatts of power have been generated during the recent ice-cold spell by all those offensive and inefficient wind turbines now desecrating the landscape and soaking up grant money?
The answer is, of course, virtually nothing – simply because, when you need it most, there’s no wind, so there’s no power.
The only sources we can trust to deliver vital electricity baseload when we really need it are coal, gas, nuclear and hydro – the rest are mere greenwash window-dressing and creative pocket-lining.
If we were to demolish all the windmills now, not a single lightbulb would go out in a cold spell. That’s ‘the inconvenient truth’ of it.
