SIR – The recent bad weather has brought about our usual Queensbury phenomenon, the disappearing binman.
It is amazing that as soon as we get a bit of snow in Queensbury, the binmen cannot come up the streets around these lofty parts. They have failed to empty our bins on six occasions this year.
I am sure in these times of austerity there are plenty of people out of work who would dearly love to empty our bins.
Let’s hope that when these current binmen get their notice from the Council and when bin collections reduce to once a fortnight, these workers don’t complain to much about reduced hours or loss of their jobs, because I feel local residents will not have too much sympathy.
