SIR – I attended the planning meeting for the Baildon Buck Lane site on Monday.

I was particularly saddened by the comments of the councillors on the planning committee.

They expressed their sorrow to the residents of Baildon, but stated their hands were tied. They had no choice but to reluctantly pass the application.

Is this the system we operate?

The councillors that we have elected to make these decisions on our behalf have to go against their own better judgement and the wishes of their electorate?

I pity the councillors. It must be a soulless job!
