SIR – May I use your letters page to thank all those who helped with the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Star Appeal.
Firstly, the T&A, for helping to organise and publicise this touching event for the seventh year running, and Wheelden Print for supplying the Christmas Stars and the invitations free of charge.
I would also like to thank the Fairfax Singers who battled the weather to come from the Burley-in-Wharfedale area to provide a wonderful background of Christmas carols, and also those members of my appeal committee and Rotary who helped to make this evening such a success.
I would also like to thank the Co-operative Society for kindly providing not only the refreshments enjoyed by our visitors, but also the prize in our raffle of a wonderful Christmas hamper.
The evening saw more than 200 stars being placed on our Christmas tree in City Hall, as people of Bradford remembered their loved ones, and a final big thank-you to them for raising more than £1,000 for my Nell Bank appeal.
Lord Mayor, Councillor Peter Hill (Con, Worth Valley ward), c/o Civic Affairs, City Hall, Bradford
