SIR – Had Mrs Anne Broadley (Letters, August 2) been a Bingley resident prior to two-and-a-half years ago, she would maybe understand why most people are quite pleased with the new Five Rise centre.
Before the refurbishment, it was a dirty rubbish-strewn environment, full of pigeons and their droppings, and at 3.30pm it transformed into a school kids’ paradise.
So if Sainsbury’s come to town, that’s okay. If not, support the store that stayed in town to cater for the residents’ needs during all the upheaval, and the local businessmen who created what we have now. Bradford it is not!
