SIR – I read with horror your account of the injuries Isaac Brown sustained while holidaying in Cyprus (T&A, July 22).
You reported that his mother now has to find £6,000 to pay for his hospital treatment there.
I understood that we had reciprocal arrangements within EU countries. It has recently been stated that all foreign visitors to our shores will have to pay for any NHS treatment incurred here, with the exception of countries within the EU, who will continue to be treated free.
Can you explain this anomaly, please?
Elaine Neale, Gordon Terrace, Idle
EDITOR’S NOTE: We believe it is because he was treated in a private hospital which falls outside any reciprocal agreement.
