SIR – I was recently in the Manningham area of Bradford and was appalled to see the horrible ‘pod’ superstructures on top of Lister’s Mill.

I don’t know who is responsible for this violation but please ban him from any future work in our city.

What sort of planning officers do we have in this city? Am I the only person to think this addition grotesque?

I would be interested to know the opinion of avid reader David Rhodes.

Samuel Lister and architects Andrews & Pepper must be turning in their graves.

Incidentally, what plans do the present owners of the building have for its famous mill chimney – maintenance, demolition or use as an advertising medium? Am I right to assume it will already be in use as a mobile phone mast?
