SIR – I’ve just read the letter from Paul Greenwood (T&A, July 12) titled ‘Won’t Change My Diet’.
Who does he think he is? So, because you like eating meat, what you’re saying is, as long as you can buy your meat and milk for peanuts, you don’t care about how much pain and suffering the animals go through in their short, miserable lives?
Yes, I am vegetarian, and I did and still do love the taste and smell of meat, but I can’t eat it without feeling guilty, as I know what happens in factory farms and slaughter houses. Despite what the meat industry wants us to believe, it is not a quick or painless death.
There has been numerous occasions where undercover filming has shown exactly what goes on. Perhaps if you looked around then you might change your mind. Animals are not put on this earth for us to abuse.
