SIR – After reading your article about car insurance (T&A, July 10), it reminded me of a very similar problem I had in April this year when I came to renew my car insurance.
I live in the BD15 area and drive a Ford Galaxy 2.3l with nine years of no-claims behind me, I’m aged 36, and have been driving since I was 18.
I was refused car insurance from some of the top named companies – all saying that Bradford was a high-risk area due to the amount of uninsured drivers.
The ones who would insure me were asking more than £1,500. Last year’s premium was just under £300, and I have managed to get this year’s premium to just under £700.
Why should we have to pay for these uninsured drivers and why aren’t the insurance companies and the police doing more about it?
I have friends or know of people who have been having the same problems getting insurance.
