SIR – In response to postings by “basilfawlty” from the T&A website saying: ‘’I wish Westfield would think ahead.”
Well it could be that maybe they are, as they are going to invest £320 million into a megastore.
The return on that kind of investment would have to be considerably large to say the least and would have to be ongoing.
As this is no corner shop and could not survive on local trade alone, they obviously need to pull in business from fare and wide.
So this is where the new Bradford Central Railway Station comes into the vision and Westfield also maybe thinking the same thing.
There is less of a risk on Westfield’s capital investment when more customers are pulled in by rail from far and wide.
This has to be positive thinking, so maybe if the business brains of Bradford get together with MPs, Network Rail, the Council and Westfield, who knows, even Westfield may think that because it will indeed put their investment on a more sound footing, a contribution would not go amiss.
