SIR – Calling all charity shops, especially in the Queensbury area.

Last year in Germany, I bought a small knitting mill. Many years ago we had a cotton reel with four nails, which we put wool round and then produced a long strip of knitting.

Knowing a person who was very interested in all kinds of knitting, I thought she may be interested in seeing this little machine, so let her have it.

Apparently she wasn’t at all interested and sent it on to her granddaughter in Queensbury, who also was apparently not interested and thought I was just throwing it away! So they put it, together with a length of knitting, into a charity box, and don’t know which charity.

I would like to retrieve this machine and wool and appeal to all charity shops to see if they have it among their stock.

It has no instructions with it and, as they are seemingly not available in this country, they would wonder how to use it perhaps.

It was contained in a round, red tin which had contained chocolates from Germany, so had distinguishing pictures around the sides.

I would be obliged if anyone can help, and would be pleased to give a donation to whichever charity is involved.
