SIR – So MP Philip Davies is concerned about Bingley and Ilkley Grammar schools.
He is a fervent advocate of cuts in government spending, yet he apparently doesn’t like it when this impinges upon his own constituents.
This is a classic case of Nimbyism – not in my back yard, but let someone else suffer.
Of course, rolls are going up, but when did common sense appeal to a government wielding an ideological axe?
I have news for the constituents of Shipley: you voted for him, so don’t blame anyone bar yourselves when you vote for a government that does that to you. You must surely have known what was coming down the line.
You may lay all the blame for a worldwide recession on Labour, but they were the only party giving you what you needed; new schools and plenty of doctors and nurses in new hospitals.
Vote in haste; repent at leisure.
