SIR – May I congratulate the residents of St George’s Place, Neal Street and Elizabeth Street, in Great Horton, for refusing to have their roads resurfaced with tar and chippings (T&A, July 1).
They did the same thing here in Lower Grange and the results were appalling. Our streets were actually quite tidy and neat-looking, now they look shabby and unkempt.
And with a lot of the chippings gone, the tar is showing through in many places and they look a right shambles!
I noticed at the very same time as our streets around here were being splattered with tar and chippings, the streets around Dale Croft Rise and Stoney Lane were being resurfaced with proper tarmac and they looked great, but obviously this is a more expensive process.
Surely there isn’t one policy for the less affluent areas of Bradford and another for the posher areas?
