SIR - With reference to the ideas put forward by architects to take the place of Bradford's former Odeon cinema (T&A, May 11), it will not be apparent to visitors why the Bradford Pivot is so called and neither will its glass construction, so reminiscent of the Sixties and Seventies, leave any lasting impression, while Casa Mela looks more like the setting for a Walt Disney animated movie and is completely out of synch with the surroundings.

On the other hand the aptly named New Victoria Place emanates class, incorporating a 100-bedroom hotel and a big screen on its facade mirroring the popular one in Manchester.

In our desire to see the dilapidated site transformed, we must not take modernity to the extreme but have a building par excellence conducive to the regeneration of the city centre.
