SIR - In reply to Robert Reynolds' extremely one-sided and disparaging remarks about the BNP and all those who voted for them (T&A, May 16), I have to point out that his personal opinions were at odds with many of the people I spoke to in the Wibsey ward.

Those of the political Left seem quite unable to accept that many Bradfordians simply do not share their political aspirations. Calling the BNP and their voters names isn't likely to alter anything, is it? Maledictory remarks have become the hallmark of a very embittered group of socialists who, like Mr Reynolds, thrive on the endless "demonising" of the BNP, but have little to offer in the way of any alternative political debate.

Many voters no longer accept the New Labour lies. Multiculturalism is a political ideology, NOT a moral prerequisite and, like all political initiatives, people can make up their own minds.

We live in a mature democracy, the cornerstone of which is "freedom of choice". This includes political choice and the right to object to Government policies. Mr Reynolds and his ilk should remember this and leave the name-calling for school children.
