SIR - May I reply to Dr Mohammed Iqbal's article (T&A, May 9) about the success of the BNP at the recent polls?
He mentions my husband's close result, 189 votes behind the Lord Mayor, Councillor Valerie Binney. I only wish the Council and Govern-ment showed as much concern as to why the BNP almost won nine seats instead of taking second place.
Could it be that the present politicians are far too soft on crime? Could it be that we are all sick of political correctness?
Standing as a candidate with my husband, I spoke to a huge number of people while canvassing. Their concerns were mainly about the changing face of Britain.
It boils down to most people in Britain fear we are losing our heritage and our culture.
