SIR - I have concerns regarding certain individuals who are framing the possible law on assisted suicide.

I refer to the archbishops and their ilk. On this subject they should have no input, as their basis to form a balanced argument is badly flawed.

Their main starting point is that life is God-given and only He should take it away. Utter rubbish. God has never been proven so cannot be used as a basis.

I also object to someone with a narrow viewpoint, i.e. religion, framing laws for me to abide by, when I am an atheist.

I have a further objection with regard to the church. It would appear that due to declining attendance, they do not have enough money to repair the fabric of their buildings, and have held their hand out for gifts from other areas, i.e. English Heritage.

If they cannot afford to maintain these buildings (originally built on the backs of the poor) then if they are to get English Heritage money, they should hand over the buildings to them free of charge.

Why should the public purse finance private buildings?
