SIR - The Doorstep Army referred to on your front page (T&A, May 17) is a good idea in principle but is open to abuse by people with a grudge.
It is also reminiscent of the Hitler Youth, who were expected and even encouraged to report even their own parents and friends if anything said, done, or hinted at was against what they had been brainwashed into believing.
It will have to be monitored very carefully. I hope the "army" will also report anti-social driving and parking of the police, who flaunt the rules on a regular basis.
