SIR Further to the reply to my letter by Mr Ian Bairstow, Bradford Council's head of waste and street scene, (T&A, April 27) can I add the following comments.
While Bradford Council has now made arrangements to provide permits for what they think are commercial vehicles on a Sunday at Bowling Back Lane, Bradford, and Royd Ings, Keighley, only, I think Mr Bairstow is missing the point.
With fuel costing almost £1 a litre, provision to issue permits should be made more local, ideally at all disposal tips, ie, Dowley Gap, Council shops, town halls or even better on the internet.
Until the Council introduces a more flexible system then they are in fact encouraging more fly tipping at the expense of the taxpayer and the environment and not being sustainable.
