SIR As one of the 60 per cent of voters who did not vote for this government at the last election (and possibly 80 per cent not favouring New Labour) I'm not interested in how well the Health Service appears, claims of progress in education, or how crime has been "reduced". I want rid of dictator Blair.

No doubt the next elected dictator will go on until his minions become embroiled in scandal or his minority of supporters becomes too small to produce a majority of seats even under our unrepresentative first-past-the-post electoral system.

We have got well away from the essentially two party state of the post-war years.

As votes cast become split between Lib-Dem/Labour/Conservative/ Green/UKIP/Scots Nats/Welsh Nats/ BNP/UDP/DUP/Sinn Fein, etc, more voters will feel detached from the political process their votes producing no representation.

Are we really expected to be happy at having our government picked by a few thousand voters in marginal constituencies a fact brazenly stated by Blair at the last general election and well understood by New Labour?

How did Northern Ireland get PR for local elections and why?
