SIR - Visiting my home town of Bradford recently, I was really impressed by the city's commitment to art. And I don't just mean the many fine museums.
What really knocked me out was the outdoor art installation that spans the Bradford section of the rail journey into the Interchange.
Looking out from my carriage window I saw thousands of differently coloured plastic bags hanging from bare trees all around the track.
It's a sensational display referencing traditional Tibetan prayer flags while also making a barbed comment on our throwaway consumer culture.
I loved the way all these little discarded supermarket bags waved in the breeze as my train drew closer to the station like they were welcoming me home.
Bravo Bradford! Such a bold aesthetic statement ought to have set the seal on a successful bid to become European Capital of Culture.
I guess those European art boffins just don't recognise truly groundbreaking art when they see it!
