SIR The Bishop of Bradford and Archbishop of York should keep out of the "political arena" (T&A, May 3).

Their sole job in life is supposed to be the spiritual guidance of the populace.

Far too many in the hierarchy "butt their noses" into matters that shouldn't concern them.

They should give spiritual advice, not play at being politicians.

On the other hand, politicians like Tony Blair and co shouldn't play at being God.
