SIR – Is it usual for more than 100 members of one union to be Members of Parliament?
There are more than 100 members of the Unite union who are MPs. Surely there will be a conflict of interest if new legislation is proposed?
Has this kind of situation arisen before, and, if so, did it affect the way business was conducted in the House of Commons?
I always thought an MP was elected to represent all his or her constituents, and if their MP happened to be a member of a particular union, some constituents might feel they were not properly represented.
How is it so many members of one particular union have managed to be elected as Labour MPs in the first place?
