SIR – Now that the Odsal Sporting Village scheme has fallen through, rather than try to cobble together an on-the-cheap version, why not go back and think things through from the start?

There is already a suitable sports stadium in Bradford which the Bulls have used before. If they can’t fund their own redevelopment at Odsal, they should be able to come to an arrangement to play at Valley Parade. It certainly shouldn’t be for the ratepayer to fund when there are much more pressing regeneration priorities. Many other rugby teams share.

That would then free up the redevelopment money to build a 50m pool, suitable for top-level competition, to be built at Richard Dunn and perhaps – who knows – to renovate the Odeon.
