SIR – My father, Edward John Bryan Trobridge, died on March 8 after a severe stroke on February 11.
The hospital, BRI, was very sympathetic and helpful during his last illness in the York Suite, and they even let us play him Mozart CDs while he lay in bed, unable to speak.
My two sisters have helped me care for my mother, and the part they have played has been incalculable.
But everyone I have mentioned my father’s death to have been wonderful – from relations who are coming from around the country to the funeral, to members of my chess team who said they would like to attend.
A big thank-you to everyone who has made our lives easier and more pleasant.
I didn’t realise I had so many friends.
