SIR – I just wanted to say I totally agree with Martin Palliser’s letter (T&A, March 22), pubs are closing left, right and centre.
This is not just due to the smoking ban and supermarkets’ low alcohol prices, but also because they are finding it harder and harder to get customers through the door.
That being said, congratulations to Fanny’s Ale House, in Saltaire, for winning CAMRA pub of the year.
It just goes to show it is possible for pubs to be successful even in the current climate.
