SIR – Whoopee! I have observed a promising solution to the squirrel problem.

I was watching the wildlife in my sunlit garden while eating breakfast, when I saw a squirrel occupying an area where birds gather material for building nests.

This irritated a couple of magpies so they repeatedly dived at the rodent until it scurried away.

Magpies do not have many admirers, but today I was pleased to see them in action.
