SIR – I visited Tesco in Great Horton, and before starting my shopping, I went to the toilets. As I entered, a lady was talking to a girl aged about two-and-a-half.
She was not with the child, but was trying to ask her where her mummy was.
I tried to comfort the girl as she became even more distressed. I managed to get out of her that mummy was eating.
I walked to the cafe and shouted asking if anyone had left a little girl in the toilets.
A woman stood up and walked towards me. As she got near, I let rip. What was she doing leaving a child like that on her own? She walked straight past.
As I left, the lady who had been talking to the girl was at the exit. She, like me, had been worried and was waiting to see if anyone collected the child.
What was the mother thinking about? Anything could have happened. She would not have seen if anyone took or harmed the child. Remember Jamie Bulger and Sarah Payne? I only hope she has learned her lesson.
How could she have put this child in such danger?
