SIR – Thank you Gary Lorriman, your letter ‘A BBC Turn Off’ (T&A, March 17), for reminding me just how much I enjoy Lark Rise To Candleford (pictured).
My big disappointment is that very shortly we shall see the end of series three, and I suspect millions of viewers like myself will be hoping for a fourth.
This light drama has very sensitively been portrayed with fine character acting and has touched on many social and class issues of that particular time.
On Sundays I am allowed to stay up until 9pm, by which time I will have had my supper, then I light my candle and go to bed.
Crass is the very last word I would use to describe Lark Rise To Candlford. Delightful, whimsical and good family entertainment – it is all of these and more.
Crass? Not in a million years! Thanks again Gary for reminding me of the pleasure created by this programme.
