SIR – Gary Lorriman might consider the BBC’s productions, Hotel Babylon, Robin Hood and Lark Rise to Candleford as garbage (T&A, March 17) but one man’s meat is another man’s poison.
Viewing figures are the primary concern of every TV channel and each of the aforementioned programmes have warranted more than one series.
I have heard many call EastEnders crass, but nevertheless 16.6 million watched a live episode of the soap on February 19, which revealed the killer of Archie Mitchell – a number which would, no doubt, have satisfied dear old ‘Auntie’.
