SIR – While we must applaud the excellent work almost completed by the Heritage Streets Project to improve our city centre, I would advise a ban on chewing gum should now be implemented (as is the case in places like Singapore), otherwise these pleasant setts and paving stones will become eyesores in a remarkably short space of time.
Just cast your eyes downwards as you wander around our city centre streets.
