SIR – D Rhodes (T&A, March 9) misses the points which I was trying to make.
1. The proposed increase in travel fares for pensioners from 35p to 65p is unreasonable, being nearly 100 per cent. It has not yet been announced as a reduction to 50p.
2. Only English pensioners pay for rail travel, all other UK pensioners travel free.
3. It is not the price of the fare, it’s the unfair principle of only making English pensioners pay, which I object to.
