SIR – Bradford, you want to create wealth and be noticed in the world?
First of all you have to have something different from anyone else – a ‘wow’ factor.
Look at the Olympics. Why not have the world’s biggest climbing wall in the centre of Bradford, three times taller than the City Hall clock?
It should qualify for funding with what is going on in London now. Just think of the pull it would have for accommodation, catering etc.
Spectators would view with awe the climbing skills hundreds of feet up, their hearts would be pounding faster, their mouths wide open.
When I was a lad, we had homemade sledges – it’s now a national sport, and look at skiing – they’re even doing it indoors!
To create wealth you have to speculate and take risks, Bradford has to believe in itself and take a leap of faith.
