SIR – Despite recent results in the political polls, the fundamental reason for the falling pound sterling on the international exchanges is the rising national debt of our country.
This has been fuelled by irresponsible, unconstrained spending by the present profligate government. New Labour simply does not get it – our pound is going down because our debt is going up.
