SIR – Thanks to Mr Rhodes for replying to my letter (T&A, February 22). I’m sorry he didn’t understand it – I was stating that the police should not receive any extra money from the Council Tax rates.
Also, I was writing to explain why the fire service was the only reliable one out of the three services.
If the fire service is required, you will at most times get a response in eight minutes. The ambulance service, by its own admission, cannot meet Government targets, but are getting there.
You would be lucky to get a policeman in a couple of days.
An example: A woman in bed phoned the police to report a burglar in her house and was told to lock the door and someone would be round in the morning to see her (T&A, December 7).
Also if you are paying rates to the Air Ambulance, Mountain Rescue and RNLI, I would suggest it is you who have had an aberration.
