SIR – The T&A (February 20) rightly highlights the scandalous situation whereby Bradford Council has done nothing for several years to provide a long-overdue visitor information centre at the World Heritage Site that is Saltaire.
Sadly, this is just typical of our present Council, whose actions so often do not seem to be in tune with the needs and wishes of its ratepayers. That the other jewel in the crown, the Shipley Glen Tramway, has been allowed to close for so long, again reflects badly on our Council.
But should we be surprised? I believe they have taken little or no account of residents’ views on such as the Westfield debacle, the City Park and the Odeon building, to name but three. Whether they deserve continued support come election time has to be debatable.
There is surely also a message here for the Keighley electorate in the forthcoming General Election. If prospective Conservative candidate Council leader Kris Hopkins can, in my opinion, take so little account of what Bradfordians want, then what hope would there be for the people of Keighley?
