SIR – I was incensed after reading the article (T&A, February 15) headlined “All free parking in city centre could be scrapped”. I thought the idea was to encourage people to come into Bradford, not deter them.
Before taking away the free roadside car parking, the Council should look at the car park by the Great Victoria Hotel, which should be free, as it must be the worst place to park and the most expensive.
They should be ashamed at charging people to park in this area in the first place.
They could fill the huge holes with stones from the other building sites in the city.
Also, have they considered that the blue-badge scheme will be abused even more as people apply for the badge and park for free anyway, and then nothing at all will have been gained?
