SIR – Steve Rossiter says we should take a leaf out of the book of the German city of Dresden, which was almost destroyed by bombing in 1945 but has since been rebuilt with facades replicating their predecessors.
But Bradford has scores of original buildings like the Wool Exchange (1867), City Hall (1873) and a 15th century Cathedral which has a long and illustrious history stretching as far back as the 7th century.
And we have Little Germany, founded in the 19th century, full of magnificent stone buildings and sculptures, fronted by the imposing Eastbrook Hall.
Bradford need take no lessons from Dresden, which salvaged the Frauenkirch (Our Lady’s Church) from the ruins but took over half-a-century to complete its restoration (2004).
