SIR – I live in Leeds but work in Bradford. Often on my way to work or on the way home I stop in Bradford to shop in the markets or to get a haircut.

If the Council proposal to stop free street parking goes ahead, I’m afraid I will bypass the city centre and shop at one of the many supermarkets I pass on my journey that have ample free parking spaces.

I feel sorry for the market traders as this will be another nail in their coffins.

If Bradford Council really wants to encourage shoppers to Bradford city centre, I don’t think charging more for parking is a way forward.
