SIR – Menston residents did have notice of the planning application for Menston Hall (pictured), but it was in December, not in October, as reported by Mr Greaves and Jim Smith, of the housing association.

The first plans were objected to and amended. The present application was posted in the village in January – one notice on Low Hall Road and another by the park. Plans were put in Ilkley Town Hall and the date for objections given as February 11.

Bradford Council’s highways department does not support this application due to the shortfall of parking spaces.

Menston already has severe parking problems and an overspill from this development would add to this difficult situation.

The tree team responding to the plans report that they are unable to support this plan due to its potential impact on trees and have made recommendations.

If this plan goes ahead, mature trees will be felled and another green space will be lost forever.

I support the renovation of the hall and development of affordable housing, but much more action is needed to make this a satisfactory proposition.
