SIR – On Tuesday, February 2, the first meeting of the Bradford Allotments Working Group took place.
Representatives of allotment sites across the city, Council officers and elected councillors took part and the meeting was chaired by councillor Hawarun Hussein.
The intention is to work together to develop a plan and a better future for Bradford’s allotments.
The group will meet twice more and prepare a report to the Council’s regeneration and economic improvement committee.
Important issues that the group is looking at include whether there are enough allotments in Bradford and how to establish more; filling vacancies on sites promptly and managing turnover of tenants; and establishing a plot-holders forum for exchanging information and ideas.
Everyone taking part is keen to see a great future for allotments and allotment holders in Bradford.
