SIR – If any of your readers have questions or concerns about meningitis, we would urge them to take part in Meningitis UK’s latest initiative called Ask The Expert.
It’s a unique opportunity which gives members of the public direct access to medical professionals at the forefront of treating and fighting the disease.
Until Friday, February 19, you can go to our website – meningitisuk.org/asktheexpert – and pose any question on the subject of preventing meningitis.
Leading professors have been lined-up to respond to the questions and answers will go live on Thursday, February 25.
We hope the initiative will help improve knowledge and awareness of meningitis during the month when cases peak and people need to be extra vigilant.
People are most at risk during the colder months, with the majority of dangerous bacterial forms striking due to weakened immune systems and germs spreading more easily.
