SIR – In response to the letter ‘Integration Ignored’ (T&A, January 27), I would like to present the facts of the situation.
The Youth Opportunity Fund and the Youth Capital Fund is allocated to Bradford district for young people to distribute to ensure that there are places to go and things to do for 13 to 19-year-olds across the district.
The Council oversees the fund and supports young people to allocate funding to youth groups through a rigorous application process.
Since 2006, more than 50 different organisations have received funding from this source. In 2009/10, 14 youth organisations benefited from significant funding, of which 12 were voluntary sector organisations.
Additional local area arrangements were introduced to ensure an equitable spread across the district with more than 30 local organisations being allocated small grants of up to £2,000 through this process.
